Whole town will be affected

Re: the incinerator at Harlescott, which Shropshire County Council is proposing to build to burn household waste.

The thinking seems to be that the prevailing wind is supposed to carry residual emissions up to 15 miles away to the north east of Shrewsbury, spreading out as it goes and thereby diminishing any effect on local communities, farmland and wildlife reserves.

But I have noticed that we have had a very light easterly wind for the past 10 days or so. So any emissions would have landed directly in Shrewsbury had the incinerator already been in operation.

It is therefore not just the eastern parts of Shropshire which will be affected but the town as a whole.

Now I don't know a lot about incineration and its effects but I plan to go to the Safewatch meeting at Sundorne School and Sports College on February 29 at 7.30pm to find out as much as I can.
