Tesni Williams is hoping she was successful in the national finalsA 10-year-old gymnast from Mid Wales is hoping the postman will deliver her some good news this week.

Tesni Williams, from Meifod, has just attended the finals of the National Urdd Competition in Aberystwyth.

She beat tough competition from around the country to reach the finals and was delighted to win a place. Now she is waiting to find out what position she reached in the competition.

The youngster, who is in Year Six at Llansantffraid Primary School, said she took to the floor for the competition, her favourite gymnastic discipline.

Tesni, who also enjoys the bars, volt and beam, took up the sport when she was just five and trains three days a week at The Border Counties School's Gymnastic Club in Oswestry.

Tesni has taken part in a number of competitions. Her best, she said, was coming first in a floor tournament in Worcester.

Headteacher at Llansantffraid Primary School Gareth Hughes said everyone at the school was "proud of her achievements".

The Border Counties School of Gymnastics provides sporting opportunities for young people, under the Oswestry and District Sports Council.
