Parts of Atonement - an adaptation of Ian McEwan's best selling 2003 novel - were filmed at Stokesay Court, near Onibury, in the summer of 2006.
The film has already received 14 nominations for the Orange British Academy Film Awards. It has been nominated for best film, best british film and Knightley and McAvoy have been nominated in the leading actress and leading actor categories.
It also has seven nominations in the Golden Globes including best film.
But the film only picked up two other major nominations in this afternoon's Oscars announcement. Thirteen-year-old Irish schoolgirl Saoirse Ronan picked up a nomination for best actress in a supporting role and Christopher Hampton was nominated for best adapted screenplay.
Atonement faces tough competition in the best movie category from Juno, Michael Clayton, No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood. Out of those, Michael Clayton leads the way with five top nominations including best film, director and actor, for star of the movie George Clooney.
