Show care while out driving

Are you that very important driver with an even more important task to do than anyone else? Who did not quite leave enough time to reach your destination, because you could not conceive that others needed to use the roads too?

As a result, you queue-jumped, causing others in the queue, who were driving with due attention to the needs of others, to brake hard to avoid hitting you.

Are you not conscious of all the brake lights going on for yards ahead, or do you feel the great rush of power, at the effect of your manoeuvre? Do you smile or laugh at the expression on the face of the oncoming driver, whose car you missed by inches?

Or are you like my father-in-law, who drove at 40mph in the middle lane of the motorway, while frustrated drivers passed on either side, some honking their horn.

He had words for all; not curses, but words of disapproval as he had a great many awards for careful driving.

The former ignores the lights to warn of speed limits and ploughs on, but carefully remembers to slam their brakes at speed cameras, then boast they've never had points or fines, ignoring that their actions may have frustrated others so much that their concentration is affected.

"They should not be driving if they can't take the strain", you may say, as you race to get over junctions.

Stop! Think! Is it time for you to start your journey a little earlier or to use lanes correctly? Drivers are being targeted more each year. If you don't change yourself, others may force you.
