Penalty plans are absurd

Plans to fine owners of takeaways in Ludlow £2,000 for litter dropped by customers seem totally absurd.

They have no control over what happens to stuff once they have sold it.

I foresee violent confrontations following attempts by takeaway owners to follow and remonstrate with offenders, and possibly racially motivated trouble-makers deliberately dropping litter, with the council being their unwitting ally in persecuting them.

If you don't like ethnic minorities, it will be easy to get them "fitted up" and fined £2,000, simply by buying takeaways and dropping it in the street!

I only hope councillors will throw out their suggestion.

We already have far too many regulations to cope with without yet more nonsense of this kind.

Politicians have already forced smokers out on to the streets, now they are trying to punish employers for workers' fag ends. Sad.

Better a street full of litter than more inspectors of this and that. Better still, employ more road sweepers.
