I too am totally outraged that so many are having to foot the bill for so few to enjoy their game of football at the new stadium in Shrewsbury.

I cannot understand why our MP has not asked for a public inquiry into the absolutely disgraceful circumstances of the new stadium being built on a greenfield site, as well as covenants being lifted without a public consensus to allow such a project.

But more worrying is how the two council authorities, police and fire services issued the STFC ground with a safety certificate.

In the words of the council, for safety reasons Otley Road has to be closed before and after a match.

Any health and safety officer will inform you that safe access and regress from any potential workplace or public building is essential - here it is quite clear that there is not.

In a situation of panic evacuation in a match, when incidentally the road would not be closed, there is no safe method of removing the crowd from the ground.

So why have they issued a full safety certificate?

Shrewsbury Town, although a business, seems to be able to dictate what it wants. Those councillors that do not agree seem to get banned from the ground.

However let's hear from a public inquiry to who is culpable for the issues that have come to be - especially as it is documented that residents in Meole and Sutton brought these issues to book a long time before the ground was started.

We should also transfer all cost to STFC, as a stand alone business should expect. Or will the authorities treat all the businesses in the area the same and, in real terms, subsidise them?
