Listen to our views on region

A promise made by the new Conservative administration of the Telford & Wrekin Council is that they will "listen to the views of the people".

They have made a good start by showing their respect for this country in hauling down the Euro flag and replacing it with our national flag.

I hope they will now cancel the last Labour council's disastrous back-door arrangement for Telford to join the West Midlands Region, which will not only cost council taxpayers hundreds of thousands of pounds but will also give the EU complete control of these regions, which will take away our right to vote on local issues.

The Government has already tried to force through regionalisation in other parts of the country, which was kicked out by a large majority when voted on.

Our council should now "listen to the people" and let them decide whether Telford should join Birmingham, Coventry and the Black Country in a West Midlands Region.
