Rumours over dog brigade

Rumour has it that the busybody brigade are demanding that all dogs be on leads at all times on all land administered for us by the borough council.

This is as daft as demanding that children be continuously constrained, on school and public property, because exercise and playtime do nothing to improve controlled behaviour.

Free running dogs are preferable to the uncontrolled humans who leave litter scattered on those and other fields. The glass and cans are more than messy; they could be dangerous.

I know that several dog walkers, being equipped for the process, frequently gather up some litter.

Of course, they would be much more unlikely to do that if tethered by a lead to the dog.
