Care home plan jobs boost
More than 60 new jobs could be created if plans to convert a Shropshire hotel, which is due to close at Easter, into a care home get the go-ahead.

Morris and Co, of Welsh Bridge, Shrewsbury, has unveiled plans to convert Stretton Hall Hotel, All Stretton, into a 42-bedroom care home.
The scheme, which was revealed at an exhibition for All Stretton residents at the weekend, could create up to 86 full and part-time roles.
Morris Care, the Morris subsidiary responsible for the scheme, said 62 jobs would be new positions, while the hotel's existing 24 members of staff would also be offered employment.
The hotel, which currently provides four full-time and 20 part-time jobs, is set to close at Easter next year.
Timothy Morris, Morris and Co director, said: "Despite its beautiful location, the sad fact is Stretton Hall isn't profitable as a hotel.
"The UK has an ageing population and there is an urgent need for more care homes in the south Shropshire region.
"We plan to extend the fine Georgian building to provide additional bedrooms while preserving the heritage and reputation of Stretton Hall."
However, Councillor John Lloyd, South Shropshire District Council member for Church Stretton North, said while he welcomed plans to keep the hotel building in use, he was concerned about the volume of traffic and noise a care home would generate.
Speaking after the exhibition, Councillor Lloyd said: "It was a very professional presentation and as I am on the planning committee I will keep an open mind.
"But it will have an impact with new residents and employees there will be more traffic and problems with parking."
