Lord Biffen helped me get started

It was with great sadness that I heard of the death of John Biffen, the former MP for North Shropshire.

Personally he was very kind to me when I entered the House for the first time.

He welcomed me and spent a considerable amount of time giving me advice.

John was very interested in my All Party Group for Dairy Farmers and came along to some of our meetings.

I particularly recall a lunch I had with him in Shrewsbury some time ago when we discussed his experiences of Parliament which I found fascinating.

He achieved a great deal for his constituency of North Shropshire and promoted our beautiful county exceptionally well in London.

I send my condolences to his wife and family.
