Mix-up on path and road rules
While driving from Shrewsbury to Montford Bridge I was impressed by the new, very expensive cycle track from Copthorne roundabout to Oxon.
While driving from Shrewsbury to Montford Bridge I was impressed by the new, very expensive cycle track from Copthorne roundabout to Oxon.
I could not, however, understand the motives of two cyclists who insisted on ignoring the track, only to ride in front of me on the main carriageway.
I was eventually able to overtake and continue my journey, putting it down to them perhaps being tourists, and maybe not understanding the road signs.
After only a short distance, opposite the Four Crosses pub, I now encountered a lone runner, dressed all in black, jogging against and slowing down all oncoming traffic. This in spite of there being a well maintained footpath on the other side of the road.
On returning to town I was able to leave my vehicle to walk to my destination. But I had only covered a few yards when I was in conflict with a cyclist riding ON the footpath.
What's going on? Has the Highway Code been amended. Do we now drive and park on the footpath, walk in the road and ignore road signs. Or is it just me?
