Town large enough for 999 unit

I read in the Thomson directory that Oswestry is the third largest town in Shropshire. Therefore, with a population this size, why is there not an emergency medical unit here?

Surely it merits an EMU, if only for the heart attacks where the elderly need treatment right away. Calling an ambulance, the waiting and the journey to Shrewsbury for a heart attack can in some cases mean death, when an EMU can give on-the-spot treatment quickly and thus save a life.

Instead of building houses on waste ground, one small unit containing 20 beds with 24-hour treatment would not take up much space, and would give the long suffering inhabitants of Oswestry piece of mind.

It really is about time for this to come about.
