Rob Brown, who lives in France, and Steve Hughes, of Wellington, photographed what experts say was a funnel cloud when the storms broke out last night.
Mr Brown's brother Steve, 28, an IT consultant, of Ryder Drive, Muxton, said: "We were driving down from Chester on the A41 when we saw a really black cloud building up at 7pm.
"The cloud level was at 500 to 1,000ft and there was a tiny lump sticking out at a diagonal angle.

"It dispersed before it reached the ground and then started building up again. It was dry where we were but we hit heavy rain five or six miles down the road."
He added: "You sometimes hear about little dust devils in car parks in Britain but this looked like a proper twister."
Shropshire Star weatherman John Warner said several people had reported funnel clouds north of Telford and in the Wem and Baschurch areas. Funnel clouds normally build up from the base of cumulonimbus, flat-topped, storm clouds.
