Agencies blow own trumpets
Having just received my council tax notification for this year I can't help but notice how they all seem to blow their own trumpets, (ie T&WC, police and fire service).

It seems nonsense to me that the police should be asking for the largest increase (4.9 per cent).
I rarely see a police officer where I live, CSO or otherwise, unless something has already happened.
I am old enough to remember that when I was in my youth one police constable patrolled an area on a bike.
Now before we get the usual excuse that the police don't have the resources to offer this sort of service let's remember that all of us pay for policing. When we stop the reactive policing and return to proactive policing maybe we will feel safer in our homes.
With regard to T&WC and some of its promises (ie footways), the footway between the four residences where I live has many cracked and uneven flagstones which were sprayed with a white cross over 18 months ago.
I'm sorry to report that the crosses have now faded but the necessary work identified to rectify the situation has not taken place. Was a contractor engaged and paid to carry out this remedial work? Why has nobody followed up to see that the works identified have been completed?
There is also a very large pothole on the Eastern Primary southbound between the Randlay and Stirchley junctions.
One extremely unhappy council taxpayer, and I would hazard a guess that there are many more.
