Hospital's workers so caring
We would like to record our gratitude to all doctors, nursing and care staff involved in the care of Mrs Minnie (Vi) Robertson during her stay at the Princess Royal Hospital Telford.
We would like to record our gratitude to all doctors, nursing and care staff involved in the care of Mrs Minnie (Vi) Robertson during her stay at the Princess Royal Hospital Telford.
Vi was in Ward 10 and the whole experience was one of care and concern for her and the family. We would like to thank the staff for their consistency of attitude, demeanour and care.
We have rarely seen such acts of extraordinary kindness and consideration. We would also like to thank the medical staff from other departments.
In the three weeks Vi was in the ward we got to know many of the healthcare and nursing staff and not once did we encounter a negative attitude or response.
This is not the place to get too political. Nevertheless, our opinion is that the jobs of all medical and care staff are not served well by the finance-led model that is now our NHS. We feel it does nothing to aid staff but militates against their tasks.
This makes it all the more remarkable that they should achieve such excellence of care and show such kindness and concern in spite of the system. Their unstinting care is to their individual and collective credit, and is a combination of their humanity, nature and goodwill, as well as their high level of skills.
Our thanks go to all those involved in Vi's welfare and for making her final days so comfortable and bearable.
Furthermore, their attention to our own needs and practical welfare was exemplary and we cannot thank them enough for the way in which we were treated. Our thanks also extend to the catering department who, via the Apley Restaurant, supplied us with good food served with friendliness, help and goodwill.
Our experience at the hands of the staff of the Princess Royal Hospital has been a very positive and happy one under very difficult circumstances.
Fay and Bob Watson, Devon
