A Shropshire Woolworth's store has denied selling an 18-rated video to a 15-year-old boy. The charge against the Market Drayton store comes after a trading standards investigation by Shropshire County Council.

Mr Robin Spencer, prosecuting of behalf of trading standards, said that on February 13, 2004, the boy bought the film without being asked his age. Is this a complete waste of time?

Consider today's society where class A drugs etc are sold openly on our streets, causing terrible social problems with youths.

Society should be dealing with these problems in the first instance as opposed to a case that is nearly three years old and a 15 year old who probably knows all about speed, crack cocaine, heroin, pills and marijuana.

I know people of my own age who have teenage sons and daughters.

Thank goodness, they do not get involved with the drug scene.

But they know more about the issues that are going on today - who to see to buy and who to see and contact for any drugs now available.

As a 55 year old, I find this nanny state totally unacceptable. They are chasing the shadows as opposed to the substance.
