Has comic lost marbles?
How dare Jim Davidson have the audacity to criticise the theatre in Oakengates? His ranting about Telford in general suggests to me that he is losing his marbles. To rip up his hotel bill is the action of an over-rated, conceited past performer - or a spoilt five-year-old child.

When comedians insult the area that they perform in, it suggests to me that they have no material to work with. As for his offer to bus people to a proper theatre such as the Wolverhampton Civic, I am sure he meant the Grand Theatre, and not the Civic.
Well, I went to the Grand Theatre two years ago to see a pantomime. I sat in the dress circle, but did not have a proper view of the stage. I came back to Oakengates to see another pantomime at The Place. This one had a smaller cast, but I enjoyed it more as I could see all of the stage.
The Place does have a few faults, the biggest one being the name. As a frequent visitor to the theatre, I find the staff very friendly and obliging. It has a friendly atmosphere, and I have never been in a position in the theatre where I have not had full view of the stage. I have seen some first class shows there, with no complaints from the performers in the past.
Here in Oakengates there are people who are working to improve the area, so we don't want the likes of Jim Davidson coming here ranting about it.
Jim, if you do come back again, please remember 'He who pays the piper calls the tune' and it's the patrons of the theatre who are paying. So, come back by all means Jim, with jokes not insults next time.
Cllr John Trafford, Oakengates
