I frequently have the misfortune to travel on the 435 Ludlow to Shrewsbury bus at 4pm from Ludlow. Many students from Ludlow College congregate at the top of Mill Street for this and for other routes. It is absolutely chaotic.

While waiting, they fill the pavement, making it impossible for people to pass; the language is foul and the noise deafening, they cannot stand still and wait quietly, they have to be larking about.

They are very intimidating. They sometimes suddenly all surge to the front of the queue, as adults look on in amazement.

Then upon entry to the bus they shout and bawl to one another for the whole of the journey, perhaps either believing everyone else is deaf, or else arrogantly seeking to make their presence felt.

It is not pleasant.

Then as the bus starts on its journey, about seven or eight students insist on standing up near the driver, again loudly chattering continuously, blocking the aisle for anyone wanting to get on or off.

The elderly and disabled are left standing. No student has the kindness to get up and offer them a seat.

I return home, like others, feeling very shaken, sad and sick.

It is obvious most young people these days have only previously travelled by car (in this "must have a car"age) and have never before used public transport, so just do not know how to behave.

I would just say to the parents, "you have done a lousy job bringing up your children".
