A man had part of his ear bitten off in a brawl at a Telford pub, police said today. The man had been involved in a fight with another man at the Oak and Magpie pub on Woodside.

Constable Pete Simmonds, of Telford Police, appealed for any witnesses to the fight and any events leading up to it to get in touch. He said: "We had a call from someone at the pub to say there had been two lads fighting and one had, had half of his ear bitten off.
"Police officers attended the scene and one of the officers found the missing piece of ear and put it on ice and took it to the hospital.
"The man was taken to hospital where staff attempted to stitch the missing piece back on.
"I don't know if the attempt was successful.
"A 37-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of assault. He was not charged but has been bailed to return to Malinsgate police station in early December.
"The injured man is a local man. The pub used to be called the Elizabethan."
