Allegiance not sworn to PM
Referring to ITV News on October 12, I imagine we all have family connections with the armed forces. My grandfather died from the effects of mustard gas in the first world war. The head of the British Army, General Sir Richard Dannatt, said that we should get out of Iraq.
The newscaster said he personally came from a military family, they had all sworn allegiance to the Queen and that General Sir Richard Dannatt had no right to say that.
The newscaster had no right to comment in that way. The first duty and responsibility of the officer in charge is to his men.
Blair's first duty and responsibility is to his own people, the British, and he has completely abrogated that responsibility for his own self-seeking ends.
He is responsible, with the American government, for the unlawful killing of over 100,000 people in Iraq and Afghanistan.
I personally swore allegiance to the King and his heirs in 1946.
Nobody swore allegiance to Blair.
