Reunion of residents was great
On behalf of the 250 people who attended the Heathgates council estate reunion 1939-2006 on September 8 at the Lord Hill Hotel, I would like to thank four great people who organised the night - Phil Welsby, John Welsby, Glyn Harvey and Beryl Lloyd.
They all got in touch with all the old people who had lived or had moved on from the estate.
There were people there from Australia, South Africa, Canada, US, Scotland, London and South Wales.
There were eight ladies, some over 90 years old, who were given a bouquet.
There was a buffet, a great band, local singer Jakey, a disco and great local comic Danny.
There was also free transport home for the more elderly guests. What a great night.
The reunion made £3,000 for the hospice, in one night. Not bad for a council estate.
