Terrible failure of conflict

Politics is the science and art of government which involves beliefs, conscience, collective responsibility and obedience to the authority. Sometimes the authority becomes self-centred, dictatorial and oblivious to the opinion of close associates.

The resignation of Mr David Wright, MP for Telford, on the issue of the Iraq war is of very high moral and conscious decision and every peace-loving person should applaud it.

The Iraq war has been a very costly affair.

President Bush and Tony Blair went to war with Iraq on the pretext of weapons of mass destruction, removing Saddam and restoring democracy to Iraq.

Their policy has failed. In an unstable country, sectarian violence between Sunnis and Shias continues and President Bush's dream of democracy has vanished.

Peace can only be established by the withdrawal of US and British troops, and a dialogue with the Iranian government which has enormous influence on the Shias of southern Iraq.

Similarly, Syria has great influence on the Sunni population.
