Locals not important

The people of Ketley have been sold out over the use of land that was given to us. I live on the building site that is to be Ketley Millennium Village. A village to me is 20 or so houses or cottages, not 750 - that's a city to a Ketley lad born and bred 200 yards downwind of the slum that it is going to be.

"It is going to be the best thing that has happened to Ketley," so the councillors say. Well, they don't live watching the everyday degr-adation being done to our football field and park.

I asked that the lane in front of my house be supported before work started, and repaired because it belongs to the council. "Yes" was the reply, "That will be made a priority."

Well, I should have known I had more chance of plaiting fog. My family sit and tremble along to the drone of heavy plant constantly on the go from dawn till dusk.

Then the news that a 12ft high sub station is to be built at the end of the lane, restricting my view of traffic. Also, the access road to the new city is going right across the front of the lane.

It's not rocket science to work out that everythingÊwill be done to please all concerned with the new estate.

The locals - they mean nothing, not even to the local councillors.

I dare say that, as usual, if this letter is read by any councillors they will pass it off as utter rubbish. Well, my invitation goes out to them to pop in for a cup of tea. We have even moved on from the 1800s when my cottage was built, we have coffee too.
