Club going back on promises?
I find the statement made by Keith Sayfritz, Shrewsbury Town Football Club's chief spokesman, Shropshire Star, September 8, quite alarming. He said that community facilities the club agreed to provide at the new stadium were no longer necessary for the local residents.
Who says so?
The agreement to build these facilities was of paramount importance to borough councillors when they agreed to grant the club planning permission for the new stadium at Oteley Road.
And contrary to his further remarks that "when the agreement was finalised it was not based on any objective need for the area", that is precisely what it was based on.
The football club did their homework, consulted the borough council and were adamant that these facilities were needed at Oteley Road and in no other area of the town.
Now that is progressing they see no reason to deliver any of the community facilities which were an integral part of this development.
I would be grateful if Mr Sayfritz would involve me in his ideas in future as my ward is one of the three to be directly and adversely affected should any promised facilities be denied to my constituents.
