Memories from old paintings
Regarding "Capturing views of Market Drayton by local artist T W Peake"on August 29. This brought back a lot of happy memories, as I am now 94 and Mr J W Peake was my first employer.
I was there for three years. I was housekeeper to Mr Peake and his wife Polly, who at that time had a painting and decorating shop in Stafford Street and a house above. They were very good to me.
The paintings up for auction were of great interest as I lived on the Phoenix Bank and the "Dirty Fair" was where my father often went to try and bring us a pony back. How I would love to be the purchaser of these paintings, but I can only dream.
