Shropshire Star

Nice town, shocking toilets

On returning from holiday in Ireland, our coach stopped off at the lovely Abbey in Shrewsbury, and we made a toilet stop opposite the Abbey. The toilets were up an awful brown staircase and the toilets themselves were disgustingly dirty. Someone was obviously sleeping in the ladies as there was bedding present.

On leaving the toilets my friend and I were met by a man, much the worse for drink, and he went up into the ladies toilets.

We were both very shocked and glad we were together and not still in the toilet. If a lady was there on her own it could have been very frightening.

My husband said the gents were in an awful state too, with water all over the floor.

Surely these should be cleaned, checked and locked at night.

I was so impressed with Shrewsbury as it is a lovely town.

I hope your paper can bring this to the attention of the right department to look into this.

Sorry my first letter to you is on such a nasty matter.
