Rocker doesn't have X Factor

Shropshire rock singer Graham Oldacre is basking in his 15 minutes of fame after entertaining millions on hit ITV show The X Factor. The 32-year-old performer from Telford impressed judge Louie Walsh with his version of Steppenwolf's Born To Be Wild on Saturday night's show.

But it was not enough to get him through the first round of auditions after fellow judges Simon Cowell and Sharon Osbourne voted against sending him through to the next stage.

Graham, pictured, who was dressed in denim and leather clutching his electric guitar, caught the attention of the cameras when he entered the audition room under the name "Gee".

He hoped the name would add to his rock persona but he was forced to reveal his real true identity to the judges.

"I thought my name was a bit plain and Gee was a bit more rock and roll. It didn't go down too badly. Louie said yes but both Sharon and Simon said no.

"It was an amazing experience for me to go on the show. I'm a bit of a metal head so I wore my denim and leathers covered in studs.

"The judges said they thought I wasn't right for the show and that perhaps the show wasn't right for me," he added.

Graham now plans to continue playing live to Shropshire crowds.
