Special treat as panto favourite Brad Fitt makes 500th appearance at Shrewsbury's Theatre Severn

Shropshire's favourite pantomime dame was lost for words when his special anniversary was celebrated on stage.

Brad Fitt was surprised by a special presentation as he made his 500th appearance as a panto dame at Shrewsbury’s Theatre Severn

Brad Fitt, who is playing Mother Goose in the panto in Shrewsbury, was making his 500th appearance at Theatre Severn when he was presented with a special cake, champagne and a portrait of him in character.

The actor and director of the production, has appeared in eight pantomimes at the theatre and has become a firm favourite with Shropshire audiences.

Theatre manager, David Jack, said Brad was a perfect gentleman and he said he said he hoped he was continue to return to Shrewsbury for another 500 performances.

He was joined on stage by the pantomime producer, Paul Hendy and his son, Jago.

He said he first saw Brad in panto in Cambridge.

"He is by far the best Dame I have ever seen," he said.

"But he is much more and is my director for Mother Goose."

Brad was visibly moved by the presentation and thanked everyone for making the night special.

"We always say that the last and most importance member of the cast is the audience. Without the audience we don't have a pantomime."

Mother Goose is on at Theatre Severn until Sunday, January 6.
