Review: Cinderella, Get Your Wigle On, Shrewsbury Theatre Severn - with pictures

Magical pumpkins, colourful costumes and glistening scenery have ensured at the latest production by one of Shrewsbury's leading theatrical companies has thrilled audiences.

Get Your Wigle On have taken to the stage at Theatre Severn this week with Rogers and Hammerstein’s take on the classic tale Cinderella.

The company are known for producing full scale energetic musicals and Cinderella is no different. The show opened on Wednesday and audiences have been purchasing return tickets to enjoy the magic for a second time.

The soundtrack is filled with tunes brought to life by a live local orchestra and features songs including In My Own Little Corner, Do I Love You Because You're Beautiful? and It’s Possible.

Denise France attended the opening night and was thoroughly impressed with the production. She said: "It was a fantastic show with beautiful costumes and great scenery. Well done to all the cast – we thoroughly enjoyed the evening."

It’s the perfect musical for the ‘Wigles,’ whose previous productions include Grease, The Wizard of Oz, Hairspray and Footloose.

The company of all local performers have been working hard in rehearsals in their Shrewsbury studio to bring the music and lyrics to life.

Dianne Drummond plays Cinderella’s fairy godmother. She joined the company for their production of Ghost where she played Oda-Mae Brown and said: "My family have been raised listening to this beautiful music and I am extremely excited to have the chance to take part in such a wonderful production which has been cast perfectly. We are working together like a well oiled machine."

Future productions at Theatre Severn for Get Your Wigle On include Sister Act and Grease with tickets on sale now.
