Theatre staff raise cash for charity
Staff at Theatre Severn organised a variety evening and raised more than £3,800 for charity.

The event, called Sing For A Cause, was staged on earlier this month and was organised by theatre staff members Sheena Davies and Olivia Hewings.
The variety show featured more than a dozen local performers and showcased a variety of popular songs from the musicals, a live band, contemporary dance, and comedy sketches, alongside a prize raffle of items donated by local businesses.
Sing For A Cause was the third charity event organised by Sheena and Olivia, following previous fundraisers in aid of Severn Hospice and the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund in memory of close friends who lost their lives to cancer. This latest event was in aid of Cancer Research UK, the chosen charity of their friend and colleague, Andrea Butler and the duo raised £3,840.
Olivia said: “Cancer affects everybody in some way and we have been overwhelmed with the support this event received and wish to thank everyone who helped us to raise this fantastic amount for Cancer Research UK. Sheena and I both have a passion for performing from a young age and we wanted to produce an entertaining and enjoyable show with our friends and colleagues to raise money for charity.”
A cheque presentation was made to Pat Jenks, chair of the Shrewsbury local committee for Cancer Research UK. Further information about the charity, and how to get involved, can be found at cancerresearchuk.org.
