Panto is music to the ears

Music takes centre stage with Sleeping Beauty – The Rock ‘N’ Roll Panto at Theatr Clwyd, Mold, this winter.

The panto opened on November 24 and runs until January 20.

Written by Peter Rowe, Sleeping Beauty features more than 16 rock, pop and soul songs played live by a talented company of the finest actor-musicians led by Nurse Tabetha Trott, played by panto favourite Sean McKenzie.

Sean, who has starred in some of the biggest shows in the West End, made his Theatr Clwyd debut last year in Aladdin.

His recent shows include the National Theatre production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time, Alan Bennett’s Lady in the Van and the international tour of War Horse. On TV he starred in Vera, Downton Abbey and Shameless. His films include 24 Hour Party People.

He is joined by Theatr Clwyd panto stars Rowan Talbot, and Luke Thornton at well as Britain’s Got Talent finalist James Ifan a panto newcomer and David Heywood, Emmy Stonelake and Zoe West.

Welsh TV favourite Lynwen Haf Roberts will also take to the stage along with Elian West and multi-instrumentalist Greg Coulson, a member until recently of the legendary two tone band The Selecter.

Director, Zoë Waterman, said Sleeping Beauty was suitable for everyone five five to 95.
