The Shobdon Food and Flying Festival has bagged the Great British Bake Off finalist to demonstrate the skills he honed on the hit BBC TV show - and judge a competition for bakers in the region.

The festival will celebrate its 10th anniversary this June and, having teamed up with Herefordshire Aero Club's annual aviation weekend last year, now attracts thousands to the tiny village to the south of Ludlow on the Shropshire border.

Brendan Lynch will be travelling west from his home in Sutton Coldfield to appear at the show. The 64-year-old became known for his technical skill and attention to detail in the 2012 series of the Great British Bake Off.

Matt Teale, festival organsier, said: "It's great to have Brendan on board. He was the fans' favourite after series three of Bake Off and visitors to Shobdon are in for a real treat.

Run by volunteers, the food festival was set up to support local farmers and producers whilst raising money for charity.

All profits from the weekend will be split equally between the Aero Club and the Shobdon Food Festival's charities and good causes.
