A community group that has brought art into the heart of a Shropshire town is on the lookout for new members – including a chairman.

The Footfall partnership commissioned its first project in 2011 and has gone on to provide three large murals for Oswestry to enjoy and numerous temporary art exhibitions in empty shops and shop windows.

Its aim is to "add creativity to empty spaces", an ethos that has led to The George pub sporting artistic murals of people partying on its outside walls and two large murals showing Oswestry's link with the railways created in the New Street area.

Amy Gregory, from The Marches School, one of those involved in the partnership and a Footfall committee member, said: "Footfall's displays have been vibrantly presented with the aim to make an empty space interesting and eye-catching.

"Members have also contributed to the Portas Bid and Oswestry's 2020 Plan.

"As the name suggests, the organisation aims to encourage more footfall in the town, leading to increased trade and a more vibrant atmosphere.

"Footfall is currently looking for a new chair to support and encourage the on-going success of the organisation.

"The group would like to invite anyone from the local community who may be interested in becoming involved to attend a meeting on January 16 at 10am at The Guildhall."
