Doggie lovers will adore forthcoming US film comedy The Year of the Dog.

Peggy (Molly Shannon) is a happy-go-lucky secretary – a great friend, employee and sister who lives alone with her beloved dog.

But when Pencil unexpectedly dies, Peggy must embark on a journey of personal transformation that is hilarious, poignant and heartbreaking.

Year of The Dog marks the directorial debut for Mike White, whose writing credits include the Jack Black comedy School of Rock.

With Laura Dern and John C Reilly in the cast, The Year of the Dog is due out in September.
