Fojtik in at Telford Tigers as Cesky moves on
TRS Telford Tigers have lost forward Jaroslav Cesky after he asked to join EPL rivals Basingstoke Bison.
Tigers player-coach Tom Watkins said: "We have agreed to release Jaroslav after he completed his two weeks notice period following Sunday's home win against Milton Keynes.
"I'm obviously disappointed to lose him, but I have to say he has acted in a professional manner throughout and performed for the team. We wish him well in the future."
The Czech forward said a desire to win trophies was behind his decision.
"It was a tough decision to make and at 34 I don't know how long I have left in the game, so I decided to make the move," he said.
"Telford is a great organisation with great fans and I would like to thank everyone for their support.
"It will be tough to come back and play against these guys and I wish them well for the future."
Watkins has responded by signing 6ft 5in Czech defence man Tomas Fojtik from Basingstoke Bison.
The experienced 28-year-old joins a Tigers side with three wins in their last four games, having played in a number of countries including Italy, France, America and Canada, as well as his native Czech Republic.
Watkins added: "We were close to signing him in the summer, and he brings a new element to the team."
