Five big decisions facing Wolves

Following the unveiling of new boss Nuno Espirito Santo and his backroom staff, things have been a little more sedate at Molineux this week.

Despite players and management taking a much needed break, there are still many unanswered questions that need to be resolved before the start of the season.

Nathan Judah takes a look at five player decisions Wolves will have to address:

1. Silvio

It's fair to say the last few games of the season were an non-event. But one of the more positive stories to emerge was the return of Silvio.

The Portuguese international was arguably Wolves' best player during the narrow defeat to Huddersfield and the final day win over Preston.

Signed on a one-year deal with a club option of a second year, his future looked in serious doubt following an injury plagued campaign that saw him make just five appearances.

But with the arrival of Nuno, the 29-year-old has not ruled out the possibility of another season at Molineux.

And if Wolves were to keep him fit, the left-back could be integral to a successful season.

2. Helder Costa

The will he? won't he? saga will be a story that rumbles on throughout the summer.

Although Wolves have yet to confirm if there are suitors for the talented winger, it's fair to say demand will be inevitable.

The club record signing cleaned up at the end of season awards and rightly so.

If Wolves are to push for promotion, they will have a far more likely chance with the 23-year-old in the squad.

Should Nuno persuade the leading scorer to stay at Molineux, it will be a huge coup for the club.

3. Paul Gladon

What to do with a problem like Paul?

Gladon signed a three-year contract (with an option of a further year) and spectacularly failed to live up to expectations.

Walter Zenga had seen enough after three appearances and the striker did not even make a squad under Paul Lambert.

It is hard to see the 25-year-old turning things around at Molineux, but it may prove difficult to find a move elsewhere.

Still stranger things have happened, but Wolves fans will not be too upset should Gladon find a new employee this summer.

4. Prince Oniangue

Like Silvio, Oniangue's future looked in serious doubt under Paul Lambert.

The 28-year-old midfielder moved to Molineux from Reims in a £2m deal last August, signing a four-year contract.

But the midfielder struggled for regular playing time and was shipped out on loan to Bastia in January.

Some Wolves fans believe Oniangue didn't get enough time to settle into the Championship and Nuno could decide to give him a reprieve.

Despite Bastia finishing bottom of French Ligue One, the Congo international impressed scoring three goals in 14 appearances.

5. Dominic Iorfa

One of Wolves' brightest youngsters in years, Iorfa endured an extremely frustrating season.

Many expected the England Under 21 international to flourish, but Iorfa underwhelmed on too many occasions.

He made only three league starts since December 13 and has previously been linked with a big money Premier League move.

The defender has two more years left of the three-and-a-half year contract he signed in November 2015.

With Matt Doherty potentially moving to right-back and centre-back Ryan Bennett signing a three-year deal, Iorfa could be made available at the right price.
