The Wolves starlets beat Manchester United 3-2 in the league on Saturday to follow up their impressive FA Youth Cup win over Milton Keynes Dons and an 8-0 thrashing of league leaders Everton.

The likes of Niall Ennis, Connor Ronan and Nicu Carnat have been touted as potential future stars.

And Jackett thinks there's a good chance that some of the side could follow in the footsteps on the likes of Carl Ikeme and Danny Batth, currently regulars in the first-team.

The head coach said: "Yes we have high hopes. We think they are a good group, we're going to work hard to keep their feet on the floor but they have the basics to do well.

"I think you need to see where they all end up (to compare to previous generations).

"How they do in youth football is a marker, because if they are successful they have a chance, but projecting forward is quite difficult because so many different things can happen.

"There are many individuals there who if they have the right standard of application can continue to do well for Wolves."

Many have made the grade over the years with Matt Murray, Robbie Keane and Joleon Lescott the standouts.

Jackett added of the current bunch: "I take a keen interest in it and it's good to see because there's there a lot of talent and ability there.

"If you're looking through our side, Carl Ikeme came through some years ago, Dominic Iorfa a year ago, Danny Batth and Ethan Ebanks-Landell who have been here for many years, Jack Price, Jordan Graham a recent one after a strong spell in our under-21s, so quite a number of players.

"Wolves have many in the first team squad and as I'm saying to the supporters we feel a lot underneath as well with a lot of ability and talent."
