Kenny Jackett: Four big games could shape season
Kenny Jackett says the next four games will provide a yardstick to measure Wolves' season so far – and potentially what their ambitions will be.
Wolves face Derby on Sunday with games against Brentford, Middlesbrough and Blues following in quick succession and Jackett says the sequence will give a guide to whether he will be looking up or down the table this season.
The four matches take Wolves through the quarter-way-mark in the Championship season and come on the back on a return to form for the Molineux men. Jackett's side have taken seven points from a possible nine in their last three games and a decent points haul from their next four matches could propel them well into the play-off positions. The head coach said: "We have Derby, quickly followed by Brentford and then Middlesbrough.
"We get a week's break and then play Birmingham.
"There are some good sides in there, some very good sides. I'm sure that period will be a measuring stick for us. I think over a period of time you get a decent measure, looking into a season.
"Ten games is a good start to see where you are, how you are looking, whether you are optimistic or pessimistic. Derby away is a big game. It is a great game, live on the television and it will be a yardstick. The overall period of these four games will be as well. That is our next test."
Asked if there have been more positives or negatives this season, the head coach said: "It has been close, very close. We had some mistakes, some goalkeeping mistakes early in the season which affected our results and confidence.
"Sako going and Nouha's injury have both been well documented but we feel we are settling down.
"Now it is all about these next four games, making sure we get a good return."
