Michael Jacobs hungry to make big impression

Michael Jacobs has been urged to grasp the chance presented by his Wolves return.

The winger was recalled from a four week loan spell at Blackpool on Thursday and head coach Kenny Jackett admits he will not hesitate to throw the 23-year-old right into the Championship promotion fight.

Jacobs has been limited to just 12 appearances for Wolves this season, the last of which came in December.

But after seeing the likes of Jack Price and Kortney Hause flourish after returning from loan spells this season, Jackett believes Jacobs can do the same.

"It would be great if Michael Jacobs could do that as well," he said.

"Generally, this season in the number 10 position, I've picked (Dave) Edwards and then (Benik) Afobe.

"In the wide left position I've picked (Bakary) Sako and then wide right has been between (James) Henry and (Rajiv) van La Parra.

"That's limited Michael to 12 appearances for us so far.

"The fact that he's gone out, he's played one position, he's played well and I think, in this division, he's up to speed.

"Going into three games in eight days I want us to be as strong as we possibly can."

Jacobs scored one goal in five appearances for the Tangerines.

And though his efforts were never going to be enough to save the Lancashire club from relegation to League One, Jackett was impressed with his performances.

"He's played wide left in every single game and played well," added the head coach.

"I've been very impressed in what he's done.

"For us to be as strong as we possibly can with the momentum that he's built from playing regularly, I think it could be an advantage for Wolves taking him back at this time.

"If there's any type of fatigue, tiredness or injury, I want good quality players to be able to come in.

"I think that the five games that he's had will help him, help his confidence and then being able to concentrate on playing in one position has let him get into a rhythm.

"I wouldn't hesitate to use him."

Wolves have meanwhile signed midfield prospect Connor Ronan on a professional deal.

Ronan, who turned 17 last month, has signed a two-year contract securing his future until 2017, with a further year's option in Wolves' favour.

Head of Football Development and Recruitment Kevin Thelwell said: "Connor is a player who was spotted by our recruitment staff to come and join the full-time scholarship programme at the start of the season.

"He has made a very good start to his time at Wolves, and that has now been rewarded with a first professional contract tying him to the club until at least 2017."
