Kenny Jackett warns his Wolves young guns to keep on firing

Wolves return to League One action on Saturday at home to Swindon looking to continue the fine start that has brought them 13 points from a possible 15.

The visit of Mark Cooper's Robins sees Wolves in league combat for the first time in a fortnight after the postponement of the Walsall derby due to international call-ups.

And the head coach is anxious that players maintain their form from before the enforced break. "If we drop our standards, even by five per cent, that could be the difference between winning and losing, because the only comfortable game we've had so far has been Gillingham," said Jackett.

"Every other match has been tight and competitive and the opposition has pushed us all the way. We have to keep our standards high and make sure we get everything out of our players."

Jackett has also placed his entire squad on alert after stressing the importance of substitutions. In the last league game, the 3-1 win at Port Vale, Bjorn Sigurdarson came off the bench to score one goal and make another while Lee Evans created a goal after coming on when the game was delicately poised at 1-0 in Wolves' favour.

"You need a strong bench and one that can make an impact," said Jackett. "Both Lee and Bjorn did that against Port Vale. Our bench was a crucial factor. It has to be as strong as possible because substitutes can make that difference between losing and drawing and drawing and winning.

"At 1-0 up, that was really the key time and being able to make very strong substitutes ensured we were able to get further away from them and didn't let them back in."
