Dean Saunders feeling the pressure as Wolves boss
Dean Saunders today admitted he is already starting to feel the pressure as Wolves manager.
Saunders is still searching for his first win after Saturday's 2-1 home defeat to Blackpool made it two points out of nine since he took charge and left Wolves 18th in the Championship, their equal lowest position this season.
Since Saunders replaced Stale Solbakken, Wolves have gone from nine points off the play-offs and nine points off the drop zone to 14 points off the top six and seven from the bottom three.
Angry fans chanted 'where's the money gone?' and 'we want Moxey out' after Blackpool's second goal and at full-time.
Asked if it was a more difficult job than he thought, Saunders confessed: "We're expected to win every game and the pressure is on.
"It's a massive club and no-one expects the club to be where it is and that's why it's a big job. When you're playing for Wolves and there are 20,000 at the ground and you're losing, you can see who the men are. "
Saunders admits he would like to freshen the team up with several new signings.
"I've got to try to do something," he said. "Maybe it needs a few new players – it can always improve."
Asked if he needed to sell before he can buy, the manager said: "Ideally yes, but it doesn't have to be like that."
Saunders is considering appealing against Roger Johnson's red card. The £4m defender faces a three-match ban after he was dismissed in stoppage time for retaliating when Angel Martinez dragged him down as he tried to break forward. Saunders said: "I think the referee made a mistake, but I'll need to look it again."
