Wolves scouts Dave Bowman and Ian Evans quit
Wolves were left facing an overhaul of the club's scouting system today as two of ex-boss Mick McCarthy's staunchest allies quit the club.
Chief Scout Dave Bowman and one-time assistant manager and now European scout Ian 'Taff' Evans' left Molineux by mutual consent.
There was no mention of their future plans – but the announcement came within 24 hours of McCarthy's appointment as Ipswich Town's new manager and their exit from Molineux is sure to be linked.
Chief executive Jez Moxey issued a brief statement reading: "We would like to thank Dave and 'Taff' for all the work they have done for us in the last six years. We've enjoyed some great successes together and we wish them all the very best for the future."
But there will be no real surprise at Molineux and the departures give new boss Stale Solbakken the chance to continue to shape his own back-room staff.
Ex-coach Terry Connor has already joined McCarthy and Solbakken will relish the chance to appoint his own talent-spotters.
He has filled the vacancy left by Connor's exit by appointing German Patrick Weiser, a former assistant from his Cologne spell. He stepped in alongside Johan Lange.
Meanwhile, Solbakken has hinted at greater squad rotation in the future to cope with the demands of the Championship.
He has reviewed the last three games against Huddersfield, Bolton and Charlton and concluded fatigue could have been a factor in his team's second-half fade-outs.
"I've looked back at those games and think I made a little bit of a mistake by using too few players," he said.
