Wolves striker Steven Fletcher is being eyed by more than 10 clubs across Europe, it has emerged.

Seven or eight Premier League clubs are weighing up bids for the in-demand 25-year-old, who cost what now looks like a bargain £7m club record fee two years ago.

In addition, there is interest from Germany and Russia in the striker, who has hit double figures for Wolves two seasons running, including 12 this year.

As a nod to growing esteem in which Fletcher is now held, most of the English clubs interested are said to be in the top 10, but below the Champions League places.

Villa were keen before the axe fell on boss Alex McLeish earlier this week, while the player is likely to hold off advances from Sunderland until all the clubs show their hand.

But it is understood there is interest from much higher up the top flight, which could yet be complicated by the ongoing Premier League managerial merry-go-round.

Wolves want to keep Fletcher but they also accept the reality that he wants to remain in the Premier League, and are unlikely to do business at less than £10m.

It's understood that new boss Stale Solbakken discussed targets when he met staff and was introduced to players on Monday.

Stoke are keen on winger Matt Jarvis, who boss Tony Pulis tried to sign back in 2007 when he joined Wolves.
