Wolves winger Matt Jarvis today set his sights on scoring more goals after ending his drought last weekend.

Jarvis, who is preparing for his 150th League appearance for the club in Sunday's Black Country derby, grabbed only his second strike of the season in the 2-1 win at QPR.

And the 25-year-old is aiming to up his strike rate after his first in 23 games ended his longest run without a goal since December 2008.

"I hadn't scored since we faced Fulham in our first home game, so it was great to get one on Saturday," said Jarvis, who went close to finding the net but hit the post in the FA?Cup third-round clash at Blues.

"It's good to score any time but I suppose putting one in at the end where all our fans were was a bonus.

"I had a few members of my family there, plus my wife and her dad, so that was nice as well.

"We were able to create more chances as our confidence grew and we were all thrilled Kevin Doyle scored one as well.

"It's great for us he's among the goals again ready for the run-in."

Jarvis scored five times on his way to Player of the Year awards and England honours last season – including strikes in both derbies against Villa – and wants to improve on that tally.

"I can't afford to wait as long for my next goal as I did this one," added the winger, who is also set to mark the Albion clash with his 200th career league start.

"I scored four two years ago and I always aim to improve season by season.

"I've got a bit of work to do to achieve that this time but results like Saturday's can only help us all."

Jarvis insists Wolves will be ready for the derby as the countdown continues to Sunday's 1.30pm Molineux showdown.

"We've got an extra day to prepare but the fact it's against Albion will add to the anticipation," he said.
