Wolves left-back pair get Mick McCarthy backing
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy today insisted he is happy with his left-back 'dilemma' going into the Premier League season but admitted it wouldn't stop him looking elsewhere.
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy today insisted he is happy with his left-back 'dilemma' going into the Premier League season but admitted it wouldn't stop him looking elsewhere.
McCarthy watched Senegal international left-back Boukary Drame play 45 minutes in the development team's 3-1 defeat at AFC Telford last night in a trial but he did not overly impress.
Fans have been crying out for a left-back ever since the £2.5m sale of Jelle Van Damme and Wolves have rejected the chance to sign Liam Ridgewell, Lee Wallace, Paul Konchesky and Ryan Bertrand this summer after being widely expected to strengthen in that area.
But McCarthy hinted at keeping faith with George Elokobi and Stephen Ward at this late stage.
"I don't know about being linked with a few left-backs, but I'm happy with the ones I've got," said the boss.
