Wolves boss Mick McCarthy today declared the next two games the club's biggest of the modern era as he challenged his team to secure back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

McCarthy sends his side to former club Sunderland on Saturday seeking successive victories for the first time since the opening day win against Stoke came after beating the Black Cats in the final game of 2009-10.

Before that it was the December 2009 victories against Bolton at home and Tottenham away and McCarthy feels the stage has been set for this Wolves team.

"There can't be two bigger games than the ones we've got," said McCarthy. "To maintain our Premier League status would be huge and that's why these games are huge.

"It would be a great time to get back-to-back wins. We need it and we want it but we can't guarantee it."
