Wolves winger Matt Jarvis today vowed 'this is just the start' after winning his first England cap last night.

The 24-year-old made his debut as a 69th minute substitute for Jack Wilshere in the 1-1 draw with Ghana.

And wearing the Three Lions shirt in front of an 80,102 Wembley crowd immediately gave him the taste for more.

"Fingers crossed there will be more to come, but it's given me the appetite," said Jarvis, who has kept his no 15 shirt as a memento.

"Hopefully this is the start. It's what you dream about and you want to represent your country and it's a fantastic feeling.

"I want more - but I've got to make sure I play consistently well for Wolves and make sure we stay up."

Jarvis admitted he couldn't wait to get on the pitch, which made him the first Wolves player since Steve Bull in 1990 to win a full England cap.

"It was fantastic, a great feeling, hard to describe, but I'm delighted," he said.

"I had my mum and dad, fiance, my brother and his wife, and all my mates from back home there.

"There were a few Wolves fans, the gaffer (Mick McCarthy) and TC (assistant boss Terry Connor) came down so it was great for everyone to be there. When I came on, I tried not to get nervous. I wanted to get a touch and show what I could do."

And he revealed he was encouraged by boss Fabio Capello before and after the game. "He said 'go out and enjoy it'," said Jarvis. "It was my first international experience and I wanted to enjoy it and I did. Afterwards, everyone said 'well done'."
