Wolves manager Mick McCarthy today blocked any of his senior players leaving on loan this season and challenged them to seize any first-team chance they get.

Out-of-favour Steven Mouyokolo who cost £2.5m in the summer is understood to have asked for a temporary move to get some first-team football.

David Jones, back after a knee injury, is also irritated by a lack of action.

But after losing Jones, Dave Edwards and Ronald Zubar before the Tottenham game to injury at a time when Jamie O'Hara was ineligible, McCarthy won't leave anything to chance.

"He (Mouyokolo) does feel on the fringes as do all of them who are on the bench," said McCarthy.

"But I have a squad and apart from the 11 who start on any given day, the rest all feel on the fringes.

"But there's no chance of him or Dave Jones going out on loan or anyone else for that matter.

"That's because you suddenly get instances like we had last weekend when I lost players.

"I need to keep them all here because if I allow players to go out on loan and then I start looking at the bench and I find we're struggling for numbers, I've got a problem."

McCarthy instead challenged his fringe players to seize their chances.

"The beauty of that is when they get a chance, they've got to take it just like Stephen Ward, Nenad Milijas and Kevin Foley did on Sunday," he said.

"So I don't mind them feeling brassed off. The reaction I want is if you do get a chance, use it to stay in the team and play well.

"Staying in this league means a lot to all of us. So whether they're sat on the bench or not, it's important they do it right. And they do they're a great bunch."
