Wolves were today finally set to complete the £150,000 signing of Dundee striker Leigh Griffiths.

The 20-year-old is due to sign a two-and-a-half year contract to become manager Mick McCarthy's second capture of the January window after the £500,000 arrival of Adam Hammill from Barnsley last week.

Seen as one for the future, the club wanted to have a longer look at the slightly-built forward after it is understood the player's medical showed him to be not as strong as expected.

Griffiths has been training with Wolves for the last 10 days after a fee was agreed with Dundee's administrator. McCarthy said at the time that the 5ft 9ins Scotland B and Under-21 striker was being put on a programme.

After a series of medicals the club are happy to go ahead with the signing and are satisfied they can improve his strength and fitness. Fans will have to wait to see Griffiths as he starts a two match ban.
