The New Saints’ title bid hangs by thread

The New Saints could concede the Cymru Premier title race to Connah’s Quay Nomads on Saturday after being held to a goalless draw by nine-man Caernarfon Town last night.

Bradley Draper missed a penalty as TNS could not find a way through, despite Caernarfon having two men sent off in the closing 15 minutes. And reigning champions Connah’s Quay will be out of reach if they win at Bala Town this evening, and then again over the Saints on Saturday evening.

In a quiet first half, Draper’s third-minute strike was ruled offside. After the break, Caernarfon keeper Lewis Brass denied Keston Davies and Ryan Brobbel, before Louis Robles had an effort cleared off the line.

The clearest chance would arrive in the 76th minute when TNS were awarded a penalty, with Caernarfon’s Gruffydd John red-carded, only for record goalscorer Draper to miss the target all together.

Jack Kenny was sent off in stoppage time as the visitors went down to nine men, with record signing Adam Roscrow then denied by Brass once more.
